Equipment Buying Guide

The equipment buying guide

Start with the job. Then choose the machine.

A practical checklist for comparing compact excavators and planning an equipment setup.

01 / CHECK THE ACCESS

Measure the route to the job.

Measure gates, passages, overhead clearance, and the space to turn. Compare the machine’s overall width and transport height with your route. Allow for the ground conditions and obstacles at your site.

A compact label or nominal weight class does not establish that a machine will fit.

02 / COMPARE THE WORKING RANGE

Depth, reach, and operating space.

Identify your required digging depth and reach. Check the manufacturer’s listed working dimensions, swing space, and the room needed for the boom and bucket.

Maximum specification values describe a working envelope; they are not a safe lifting capacity for every position.

03 / CHOOSE THE SETUP

Cab, canopy, controls, and engine.

Compare the listed cab or canopy, pilot or mechanical controls, engine model, and fuel type. Check the exact listing for features such as air conditioning and swing boom.

Pictures and a model family name do not replace confirmation of the ordered configuration.

04 / CHECK THE CONNECTION

Make attachment compatibility specific.

For buckets and powered attachments, check the coupler, pin sizes and spacing, hydraulic requirements, and connection type. Different configurations in the same weight class can use different fittings.

Bring your model and attachment details to BK Earthmoving before selecting an attachment.

Before you place the order

Confirm the exact product, included equipment, destination access, and purchase conditions. Review the final order total at checkout. Ask BK Earthmoving about any detail that affects your choice.

For transport, lifting, maintenance, and operation, follow the applicable machine manual and qualified professional guidance.

Bring your shortlist. We’ll start with the details.

Tell BK Earthmoving about the project, access width, digging needs, and the machine you are comparing.
